HOUSTON – California-based furniture manufacturer Exemplis has acquired Edloe Finch, a Houston-based e-commerce retailer of furniture for the home. Edloe Finch is also the parent of Albany Park, a modern-furniture company that exclusively offers sofas.
“I’m thrilled about the new possibilities for our companies,” said Paul DeVries, CEO and founder of Exemplis. “Darryl and Jessica Sharpton have created one of the fastest-growing brands in the residential furniture space. Their forward-looking leadership, creativity and competitive drive are perfect complements to the nonstop innovation that’s propelled Exemplis for more than 25 years. I’m very excited to be joining forces with them.”
Under the terms of the agreement, Edloe Finch will continue to operate independently, and all products will continue to be ordered from, fulfilled by and serviced through their respective factories and customer service teams. Most of the company’s product is made in Asia, with about 50% of current production in China and the rest coming from Vietnam.
“We are very excited to be a part of the Exemplis family,” said Darryl Sharpton, CEO and co-founder of Edloe Finch. “In Paul (DeVries) and Exemplis, we’ve found an ideal partner who shares our passion for creating great furniture while keeping the focus on the customer experience. Jessica and I will continue to run Edloe Finch and Albany Park as co-CEOs.”
Former NFL player, Darryl Sharpton, and his wife Jessica, founded Edloe Finch in 2017 and launched sister brand Albany Park in 2019. Edloe Finch works with marketplaces such as Amazon and Wayfair to drop ship sofas, chairs and table, and Albany Park is a line of affordably priced sofas.
Exemplis, founded in 1996, is a contract furniture manufacturer that produces build-to-order products such as SitOnIt Seating, along with custom work chairs and lounges for offices, conference rooms and lobbies.
