Hosting A Summer Ice Cream Party

It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve had a summer party! Even though our renovations are not quite complete, we’ve had the perfect weather so we got inspired this week to set up an ice cream sundae party on our front porch!

I like to keep entertaining simple so we often set up “serve yourself” or “make your own” dinners or desserts. It’s simple for me and everyone has fun choosing what they want!

While we’ve been waiting for the kitchen to be done I started collecting a few new summer serving pieces so we’ll always be prepared for s’mores nights and sundae bars. Because we downsized a lot when we moved here, I’m being really intentional now it what we add back in. We found ten really great pieces on Walmart that are easy to store, so versatile and cute for summer entertaining!

I love using cloth napkins and couldn’t resist these cute ones in pretty prints and colors! I’m also thinking to use them for decorating serving tables or anywhere we need a splash of color.

The rattan tray will be useful whether we’re using it to carry food in or out, to corral items for serving, or even on the kitchen counter.

I fell in love with this darling bar cart. It’s the perfect size for our small porch plus it is sturdy, has wheels and a removable serving tray! We’ll use this for serving or plants all year and it is cute enough to be brought inside, too.

Right now it’s on our front porch, but I can also see us using it on our new back deck for s’more nights!

These little bowls are perfect for a summer ice cream party to hold a scoop of ice cream or serving small items! And they won’t break so there’s no fear in bringing them outside or using them around little ones.

I got this pretty blue and white rug on Walmart last year!

This galvanized tub is perfect — we used it for serving drinks this time but I also can’t wait to use it for setting up s’more nights! It would be adorable filled with small plants as a centerpiece, too.

The galvanized rectangle serving tray is so versatile! You can use it with the bowls in it, or remove the bowls to use the tray and bowls separately. So handy for serving toppings at a summer ice cream party or for s’mores, too.

I also really like this square serving tray. It has a cute handle that folds flat for storage and the bowls can also be removed and used separately.

This ceramic pot’s sturdy design prevents tipping and it has a drain plug for easy watering. The wave pattern makes it a fun addition to our summer porch!

We also got these pretty white string lights on Walmart. I love the warmth and ambience they add to the porch. The bulbs are LED for a longer life span than regular bulbs. They were a nice long length (31.5 feet of lights) so we only needed one strand to fill the porch, but they have end-to-end construction so you can connect up to 9 strands together if you need a longer length!
