COLUMBUS, Ohio — Top 100 retailer Big Lots is testing a new store format that has a sharper focus on home furnishings. Officials say the concept can provide learning opportunities that can be applied to its broader store base.
Big Lots Home stores will feature expanded selections of home décor and furniture with comparable values on thousands of items up to 60% less than other retailers. The retailer selected 10 existing stores supplied by its Columbus, Ohio, distribution center to receive the Big Lots Home format refresh with grand openings planned for October.
“Our teams are building exciting new shopping experiences in these 10 communities, and we can’t wait to share them,” a company spokesperson said in a statement shared with Furniture Today. “Big Lots Home stores feature a refreshed layout, design and presentation that will inspire area shoppers to tap into their own personal aesthetic and design their homes with beautiful items at some of the lowest prices available anywhere. We look forward to welcoming shoppers in these communities to their new Big Lots Home.”
Big Lots Home stores highlight products for the entire home, organized by room with stylized vignettes. Many products will be exclusive to Big Lots Home and offered as limited-quantity special buys with items rotating monthly, encouraging shoppers to visit often.
Exclusive to Big Lots Home locations, new and existing Big Rewards members will receive special member pricing of 5% off every purchase every day at Big Lots Home in addition to low comparable prices on every item, every day instead of sales and promotions.
Shoppers have several delivery options, starting at $59 for total order delivery, up to $99 delivered to the room of their choice plus assembly. Shoppers will also be eligible to receive everyday 24-month extended financing when they use their Big Lots Credit Card.
