J&B Home Décor and Gifts on wall art: “The bigger the better”

Home Accents Today spoke with Brad Priest of Indiana-based retailer J&B Home Decor & Gifts to get an update on the wall décor category.

Q. How important is wall décor to your product offering?

Wall décor is extremely important here at J&B Home Décor & Gifts. Art is jewelry for your walls! Having both commercial and local artists, along with mirrors and metal pieces, creates warmth and coziness here in the showroom as well as enhances the décor pieces and gift items.

Q. Do you merchandise your wall art with other décor? And how so?

I purposely arrange the art pieces in a variety of ways, meaning that some are hung to show how they will look in a client’s home, but some are leaning on top of furniture pieces to create depth and layering.

Q. What size, theme, and price point seems to be doing well with consumers?

Our clients LOVE oversized art — the bigger, the better! 48”x 48” is probably our most popular size. Open concept homes with tall ceilings require oversized art to make a dramatic impact. Abstract paintings in blues, greens, white and gold are always a client favorite, but I do encourage them to branch out into bold and unique color palettes when it comes to art. Art pieces should always tell a story, provoke imagination, and make you smile.
