BOCA RATON, Fla.— Marvin Rosenbaum, who co-founded RFA Décor with his brother Howard Rosenbaum, passed away on Aug. 27, 2023. He was born in 1933 and lived for 90 years.
Rosenbaum held a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bernard M. Baruch School of Business at City College of New York.
He worked for 10 years at Olivetti, a multinational manufacturing company, working his way up from territory sales representative to manager in the New York region. While working for Olivetti, he spent a lot of time in Italy, where he bought art for himself. Friends and neighbors who saw the works in his home began asking him to buy art for them as well. He eventually left Olivetti to enter the wholesale art business and founded Emrose Art Corporation, an import company that purchased original works of art from the Far East for distribution throughout the U.S.
An internationally recognized expert in the art world, specializing in Picasso ceramics, Rosenbaum served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA), chairman of its Art Committee, and board member of its Trade Show Committee.
He was also a contributing editor to the internationally distributed art and framing trade publication, Art Expressions Magazine. In 2007, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Art Expo and was inducted into the Art Expo Hall of Fame.
