SEFFNER, Fla. — Top 100 retailer Rooms To Go has acquired The Great American Home Store, the company announced on Aug. 2.
The Great American Home Store has four locations in Tennessee and Mississippi, all in the greater Memphis area. By acquiring the brand, Rooms To Go has its first entry into the Memphis market. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
“Acquiring The Great American Home Store is the perfect way for Rooms To Go to enter the Memphis and Southaven market,” said Rooms To Go CEO Jeffrey Seaman. “We are excited to bring The Great American Home Store team and business into the Rooms To Go family while continuing to offer quality, stylish furniture to the area.”
Rooms To Go has had a presence in Tennessee for 27 years, with showrooms in Chattanooga, Knoxville and multiple locations in Nashville. In 2020, Rooms To Go purchased a 1-million-square-foot distribution center in Lebanon, Tenn., which will enhance the delivery options and timing for The Great American Home Store customers.
“Our entire staff at The Great American Home Store is excited about combining with Rooms To Go. Rooms To Go will bring to the Memphis market a tremendous furniture shopping experience for our customers — both in store and online,” said Ron Becker, Great American Home Store’s general manager. “There is a common denominator in both companies’ business philosophy: ‘Take care of our customers first and foremost.’ The combination will be great for our customers and our employees. If you are shopping for furniture in the mid-South, the future looks bright.”
All four locations will continue to operate under The Great American Home Store name while the two companies transition into one.
The Great American Home Store is one of Furniture Today’s “Beyond the Top 100” retailers for 2023 with an estimated $47.5 million in sales across five stores in 2022.
