SUMMERVILLE, S.C. – Home décor and case goods brand Sagebrook Home will invest $80 million in its new distribution facility in Summerville, S.C. The move is expected to create 117 new jobs over time.
First announced in January, operations at the 500,000-square-foot plant are expected to begin this month. The facility is in addition to the company’s current Los Angeles distribution center.
“As Sagebrook Home continues to grow, the decision to distribute from both the East and West Coasts seemed a natural evolution,” said co-CEO Justin Kachan. “With the rising cost of shipping, there was no better time to add bicoastal distribution. This new distribution center gives us the opportunity to implement the latest in technology and keep Sagebrook Home a force in the home category.”
Sagebrook says having distribution from both the West and East Coasts will help better serve customers logistically around the country. It will reduce transit time and combat the rising cost of freight.
The facility will house and ship furniture, wall art, accessories and more. Sagebrook has about 10,000 SKUs in its portfolio.
“S.C. Ports is thrilled to handle goods for Sagebrook’s first East Coast distribution center,” said S.C. Ports CEO Jim Newsome. “This impressive home décor company will benefit from S.C. Ports’ creative supply chain solutions and expansive port infrastructure. Sagebrook’s new furniture distribution center builds on Charleston’s centrality to the furniture and home goods segment.”
The company received a $100,000 grant from the county to assist with the costs of site preparation and building construction.
