See who won ISFD’s product design competition

The International Society of Furniture Designers (ISFD) announced the winners of its fifth-annual Innovation+Design (I+D) juried competition at a “Meet the Makers” Market reception held at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame on April 13.

“In celebration of our 5th anniversary, we were happy to see a record number of designer-makers sharing their creative work with us this year,” stated David Blair, executive director of ISFD. “Once again, the entries showed a high level of imagination and superior craftsmanship making it a challenge for the expert panel of industry judges to narrow the list down to just eighteen professional and student finalists.”

The professional winners are:

–Penina Bernstein in the Occasional Storage category for her Wenge and Brass Altar

–Penina Bernstein in the Seating category for her Walnut & Leather Chair

–John Brogan in the Accessories category for Reverie

–Stephen Thrasher in the Occasional Tables category for his Cooper Twist Table

–Hasan Zaidi/ Stabb Designs in the Lighting category for the CONSTANT Pendant

Student winners:

–Aidan Gough in the Lighting for his Maude I

–Sirvats Srinivasan in the Seating category for the Chrono Timeless Chair

–Ruihan (North) Sun in the Occasional Tables category for the Pu Side Table

–Jinquan Zhu in the Occasional Storage category for the Moonlight Coffee Table

In addition, two designers’ products were named Best of Show:

–Professional – Penina Bernstein, Occasional Storage, Wenge and Brass Altar

–Student – Aidan Gough, Lighting, Maude I

The finalists’ and winning projects will be on display at the Hall of Fame during market.
