One of the trends we discovered at the Inspired Home Show was that we’re currently living in our “fiesta effect,” a term shared by Laurie Burns, executive director of GHTA, during a tabletop panel discussion. The term refers to the need for cheerful colors and vibrant home products to uplift consumers’ spirits during difficult times. After seeing what some of the top brands introduced at the New York Tabletop Show, which ran April 9-12, we have to agree. It seems minimal designs and chic neutrals are taking a step down and letting bold patterns and exciting new colors take the center of the table. Neutral decor and tabletop will, of course, play a nice role as a backdrop for these items, but it was the colorful barware, vibrant accent pieces and unusual patterns that caught our editors’ attention at the show.
Waterford Creates Winter Wonders
Waterford displayed a festive new colorway at the show called, “Holly,” though the color appears more aquamarine than holiday green. No matter what, the festive color adds a splash of cheer to any tablescape, whether it’s for Christmastime or simply an exciting get-together. Seeing this timeless tabletop company venture into an icy blue cements our thoughts on the trend of colored glassware.
Villeroy & Boch Introduces Lavender
Michelle Lamb of the Trend Curve tipped us off that lavender is going to be a hot color for 2024 and it appears she was right. Villeroy & Boch embraces the trendy hue in its new Boston glassware collection, which also features a casual and fun hobnail texture.
Wedgwood Gets Wild
Showing off two whimsical collections, Wedgwood displayed its Voyage of the Beagle ceramics, inspired by the travels and destinations of Charles Darwin, and Wild Strawberry in Inky Blue, which is a new take on a Wedgwood classic. The former collection is a wink at the company’s past when Josiah Wedgwood accompanied Darwin on his famous journey. Both collections harness an adventurous vibe, perfect for younger consumers.
Vista Alegre Finds Meaning
The Meaning is a new cross-category collection by Vista Alegre that features both a modern twist on vintage floral patterns — a tabletop trend aimed at millennials and Gen Z — and a bold color palette of rust and green. The complimentary colors play off of one another in stark contrast; separately the items are bold and beautiful, but when paired together, their vibrancy finds a whole new meaning.
Vietri Ready for the Holidays
These mini tabletop trees have Vietri ready for the season of cheer. The holiday figurals can dress up a festive tablescape, mantel or other areas of the home. According to earlier reports by GDA, consumers are celebrating more often, and therefore more interested in items that enhance their celebrations and get-togethers.
Bordallo Pinheiro Falls into Festive Color Palette
Season-specific figurals from Bordallo Pinheiro feature a vibrant fall color palette inspired by the jewel tones of Autumn leaves. Claudia Schiffer designed the collection, which includes a variety of items, big and small, that add a touch of excitement to the home.
Kosta Boda Bodes Well
Not only is this circular vase beautiful with its shimmering blue hue, but it’s also eco-friendly. The vase is made from excess glass from the “hot shop,” that is then remelted. The crackled exterior is the result of submerging the hot glass in cold water. The new item is another example of how colorful glassware has been trending up.
